What is SPANDAM?
“SPANDAM it's a simulation tool to guide decision making and public policy with the aim to achieve a demographic development, socio-economic and environmental balance and sustainability in areas affected by depopulation.”
What will be the main function of this tool?
The simulation tool will be able to calculate the impact of decisions and political variables with the aim of supporting policy makers, members of civil society and companies to predict the future scenarios, as well as the effects of the policies they develop.
Project description SPANDAM
Spandam es un innovative project that proposes the development of a software tool that will allow to simulate the impact of different public policies and private initiatives in the main indicators local development and its effect on the attractiveness of the area to retain its residents and attract new migrants, as well as potential investors. As such, the tool will contribute to design policies in order to counter effectively the current reality of the demographic imbalances en España y su dinámica negativa para la cohesión territorial, económica y social.
WHO IS TARGETED BY THIS TOOL
The tool is specifically aimed at experts and advisors in consultancies and private agencies and institutions that provide policy advice to the different levels of government.
HOW DOES OUR MODEL?
Our model will result in a visual tool, and explanation of the dynamics of internal migration in Spain, allowing users to change any value of any variable selected in order to know what is happening with the selected indicators.
HOW DOES THE AREA OF SOCIAL POLICIES?
In the area of social policies, public services are planned usually in function of the demand, but not an objective analysis of the needs of the present and the simulation of future needs, so that when the services are implemented, these are tailored to the needs of the population.
WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM?
To solve this problem, SPANDAM it is a tool that will allow to perform simulations based on demographic trends and other variables, so that the planning policy to be driven by data, adjusted to the needs of the present and future, thus ensuring that the policies are more efficient.
